Hope

Emily Dickinson (1830–86).
Complete Poems. 1924.
Part One: Life XXXII

HOPE is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I ’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Boredom

The Merriam-Webster definition of boredom:
"the state of being weary and restless through lack of interest"

Couples sometimes come to therapy
voicing concern about being " bored" with one another.

As a counselor, my job is to elicit from the couple the areas where there is lack of connectedness and evoke from the couple ideas to fill the area of void.

After exploring these areas oftentimes couples realize what kinds of things they are searching for and brainstorm together creative ideas to find fulfillment and happiness.

Call a competent therapist to explore areas in your relationship which are contributing you your feeling bored.

Play is good for the soul...

We get so busy with life. Sometimes we forget to notice our partner and really allocate quality time and attention to our significant other. This may drive a wedge between the intimacy and closeness which we all crave. Playing and acting silly with one another can be a great way to connect and feel close with a partner.
Find the " child" in you and have fun!

Bloom Where You are Planted

Bloom where you are planted. What does that mean?

Sometimes clients tell me they feel "stuck" "trapped" or tired of the "status quo."

Just verbalizing this and recognizing that one is in this place is the first step toward growth and change. If one doesn't have any awareness of being in this " state of seemingly permanence," no change can occur.

My role as a guide is to brainstorm with the client in a collaborative way their interests and goals for being different going forward in their life.

I assist in eliciting from the client some of the changes which they might be interested in implementing in their life.

Being planted where we are might be positive or it might be stagnating.

What would it take for you to bud, bloom and blossom in your life?
